Until we meet again cousin

The gifts of family ~

I’ve tried to write this several times but I struggle with the words through the tears and sadness that come.  So I'll be brief -

Ed, you were the calm in my life when I needed it oh so much.  Like the time, in my frantic pace to prepare a home for sale and replace a door, you provided a sense of calm.

As I recall, Ed and Uncle Hube spent the entire day and evening trying to get the hinges on it only to find out that the door was the wrong size because I tried to find the least expensive way to do and surely a Yates knows how to do cut hinges in a door, I thought.  I've heard some amazing stories about a Yates and duct tape - Personally, collective they could have taught Macgyver a few things.  I can hear him chuckling now and him calm demeanor helped so very much.

I'll treasure our late night chats, as that was the only time in my crazy world that I could pause and catch-up on life and the enjoyment in parenting an inquisitive child. I'll treasure his kindness, reminding me that we are in this world together to love and take care of each other.

When I recall the time that God allowed us to have you - I feel blessed.  Blessed that you were my cousin,  blessed that you accepted me for me, blessed that you showed me by example what really mattered, you didn't judge me and helped me to understand that even in the more trying times - “Honey, it will be ok”.

Lastly, blessed that when my parents were called home, your comforting arms held me while I cried.  I sure do miss your hugs.  God, please hug him today for me and comfort his family tell him how much we love him.

I am thankful for the gift of time, your snipits of wisdom like the time he told me "Life is as complicated as you want it to be"  Until we meet again cousin, I love you.
